The European Forum of Russian Jewry is the brainchild of Professor Nico Gunzburg . Born in Riga on 2 September 1882, he died at the age of 101 in Antwerpen, Belgium on 5 March 1984. Nico Gunzburg was one of the most renowned Jewish-Flemish legal scholars.In 1920 he became the initiator and first Chairman of the Central Welfare Organisation , which later became the Royal Society of Jewish Welfare
