We were delighted to partner with our colleagues at the European Jewish Community Centre and the Finnish Presidency, and our event MEPs to host our annual Rosh Hashanah cocktail in the European Parliament. H.E. Ambassador Hanna Lehtinen on behalf of Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union gave a wonderful summary of Finland’s sterling efforts on eradicating xenophobia and intolerance through a direct programme of actions at educational and governmental level, as well as sharing the Finnish priorities in this field for their tenure of Council. Each of our MEP hosts were invited to speak, receive a atoken of our appreciation before Rabbi Avi Tawil gave a warm talk on the significance of the Jewish New Year and then blew the shofar beautifully, rounding off a wonderful, inspiring, busy and productive day for us.
