We expressed our thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Tzantchev of Bulgaria for meeting us on Tuesday at the Permanent Representation of Bulgaria to the EU.
At the beginning of each Presidency we make it our mission to establish personal contact and develop relations with the host country. We discussed various topics during the meeting and areas of possible cooperation.
We were delighted to hear of Bulgarian Presidency intention to promote the EU-wide application of the principles laid out in the recent European Parliament resolution of 1 June 2017 on combating anti-Semitism. We also welcomed their initiative on commemorating in Brussels the 75th anniversary of the Rescue of the Bulgarian Jews (March 10, 1943).
