Michael Freilich stands out as a prominent figure in Belgium’s socio-political arena. He boasts a diverse career that encompasses journalism, legislative contributions, and strategic business development. Formerly the editor-in-chief of the Belgian Jewish News and presently serving in the Belgian House of Representatives (since 2019), Freilich integrates his deep knowledge in media, politics, and business to spearhead impactful projects and stimulate growth across various sectors.
As a Member of Parliament, Freilich is engaged in cybersecurity, digitization, telecommunications, trade, and banking within the House Economics & Digital Agenda Committee. He is dedicated to combating anti-Semitism and advancing tolerance, and he hosts the anniversary of the Abraham Accords every September. He initiated several significant Parliamentary actions, including legislation to outlaw terrorist groups in Europe, ensure banking access for all enterprises, enhance cyber resilience, boost e-commerce, and protect minors from harmful online content, among other achievements. In June 2024, he was elected to a second 5-year term in office.He holds a humanities degree from the STI Institute in Manchester, a technical degree from the JCT College of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science from Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey.
